Curran International

Curran International is globally recognised for specialised heat transfer equipment services — exchanger anti-foul tube coatings and grit blast tube cleaning. The problem was not credibility. It was that the engineers who specify this work read a specific, narrow set of trade titles, and Curran was not in them.

GCW built a news bureau around the one asset a technical company always has and rarely uses: the expertise of the person running it. Rather than issuing product announcements, the programme placed bylined technical articles under CEO Edward Curran's own name — “Eliminate exchanger tubing troubles” in Chemical Processing, “Teaching an Old Ship New Tricks” in The Motor Ship, the tube-coating method in Flow Control — each written for the maintenance engineer whose shutdown budget was the real decision.

The reach went past the domestic trades. The polymer-coating argument was translated and published in Hydrocarbon Processing's Chinese edition, putting Curran in front of refinery operators in the market where the plant was being built. And when Curran signed its licensing agreement with Saekaphen GmbH, the announcement ran through the chemical and refining press as a technology story rather than a corporate one.

In business since 1981, with projects completed in over thirty countries and specialised shops across key international locations, Curran had the substance. GCW made the substance legible to the sectors that buy it: refining, petrochemical, oil and gas, power generation and marine.
